Oak joinery lines the walls of the space concealing structural supports and building services, whilst maximising functionality and storage. A cantilevered oak staircase with hanging balustrade appears to balance on the joinery below. The ceiling sweeps up to a magnificent 6m long rooflight which scoops light deep into the plan.
At raised ground floor level, a large glass fire screen opens up a previously narrow hallway whilst oak joinery ‘floats’ off the floor on either side providing hallway storage and bookshelves. Further up, oak veneered study doors open to become wall linings allowing light to flood through to the staircase. Bedroom joinery has been carefully designed and detailed for the client’s requirements including the design of flip down bedside dressing tables and desks and wardrobe pocket doors concealing the client’s AV equipment.
